South lauded over performance of stadium as sporting venue

The organisation behind the 2011 Rugby World Cup has praised the South for its involvement in the tournament. Rugby New Zealand 2011 tournament services general manager Nigel Cass, who was had been involved with the project since late 2004, visited Dunedin on Monday to thank those behind the event.

Big Auckland cycle event

Although it’s not one the 18 Great Rides on the New Zealand Cycle Trail, Auckland’s urban version could be a must-do for cyclists. A new cycle event, the TelstraClear Challenge, offers a unique course which involves riding over the Auckland Harbour Bridge and onto the Northern Busway, finishing at a festival at Smales Farm in Takapuna. It takes place on Sunday 11DEC and around 9,000 cyclists are expected.

The Mountains to Sea Cycle Trail forms part of the New Zealand Cycle Trail and covers 317km of spectacular landscape, from the slopes of the mountain to the Whanganui River.
